Naver, visited by approximately 17 million people a day, is Korea¡¯s largest search portal site. Based on its innovative search services such as Knowledge iN and Unified Search, Naver offers in-depth, accurate information. It also provides community services such as Blogs and Cafes (online communities), as well as a wide array of convenient services, such as News, Real-Time Rising Keywords, Shopping, Books, Mail, and Toolbar.

Finding the right information among the plethora of data on the Internet can be daunting. Naver allows users to easily find the information they need by providing the world¡¯s first Unified Search, which shows search results at a glance organized into various categories such as Blogs, News, Expert Reports, Images, Video, and Knowledge iN - a knowledge sharing service driven by users¡¯ own questions and answers.

Everyone should have easy access to information. Naver provides access to multiple databases through partnership with the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the Korea Institute of Patent Information, the National Library of Korea, the Korea National Statistical Office, KOTRA, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences, and the Federation of Korean Industries. By ensuring that professional and high-quality offline materials can be accessed online, Naver helps to share knowl- edge more equally.

Mutual understanding creates a new culture. Naver offers spaces where users can communicate to create and share information. User-Generated Content (UGC) includes information necessary for daily life, individual know-how, and expert knowledge. UGC is shared in Naver¡¯s community spaces, such as Blogs and Cafes, creating a new culture of documentation. New UGC is linked into Naver¡¯s search services to become valuable resources for other users, forming the basis of a rich online world.

Naver is taking the next step into creating an open internet environ-ment by providing users with the ability to create and share infor-mation and knowledge. With the launch of its Open API Service,Naver became the first domestic search portal to open the interfaceof some of the site¡¯s major services, including Knowledge iN, Dic-tionaries, Maps, etc. In January 2009, Naver introduced its open information platform, such as OpenCast and NewsCast on its re-launched starting page.
